I cant leave well enoguh alone. Still thinking about my tire carrier i have to make. And I have been thinknig bout a slip down carrier. It will be a bit more solid and dont have to worry so much about the hinge spindle braking. (had a buddy snap his off th bumper) I was wondering who has one and is it that much of a PIA to bring it down and up? I am thinknig bout making a paltform behind the tire so when it is flipped down it can double as a table. I will have a cooler rack still on top, just th etire will flip down and then the tailgate can still be flipped down to get into the back of the jeep.

    Dan,

The PO of my jeep had a flip down carrier that I like and will reuse. It is basically made of 3/4" square tubing and holds two jerry cans as well as my spare. It mounts to the plate above the bumper and attaches to the place where the tailgate hooks on at the top. I will try to get some pics later today, but I don't have a tub mounted on a frame, so you'll have to use some imagination. Gotta gon now. Will finish later.

30". Not terribly difficult unless you're a real girlie man. R) Once you get it partway up, it's more "push" than "lift".

My carrier is flip down capable. Lynn's Tioga 06 pics show it but maybe can't see the flip down aspect. Just made a simple hinge and a through bolt kinda latch gismo. Needs perfected as this was the proto type.R)

    800A ? B ? I don't recall
if it could be duplicated using larger tubing for bigger/heavier tires. might work for some folks here
