Would a piece of 1/4 mounted to these 3 frame holes on each side be sufficient for a winch plate? I would put backing strips inside the frame for extra strength. Any other pics of ECJ5 winch plates would also be much appreciated ;)

My Warn mount uses two of the holes on the side rail so, I would think if your using extra backing it would be sufficient.

I've done that a few of times Joe. Only difference was I also ran it down the sides back almost to the crossmember. Probably not necessary in most cases but I've bought several early Jeeps that had a winch on it and the frames were bowed up between the bumper and front crossmember. I thought a little extra strength couldn't hurt. Oh yeah sleave the bolts like Don said.

That would be more than enough.

Consider what how the hook is mounted, and then consider that it sees the same amount of load as your mount, but only though two bolts...
