Heres a question I hope you can help me with... I want to get a set of front dog dish type hubcaps ( the ones with the centers cut out) for my stock jeepster commando rims, but I was told that the cut out version may not have existed in the size I need.
I have the older Kaiser gold and red dish caps, not the later AMC blue and white caps. I've been told that the older gold and red caps are larger (they measure 10 3/8" on the inside) than the white/blue caps, and that the cut out front style caps were only available in the smaller size to match the blue hubcaps. Is this true? Should I give up on my quest for a set of cutout hubcaps and just hand cut a set of full gold and red caps?
    Thanks,
    Nathan

    not yet
I have some chrome dog dish caps that have the centers cut out, and a vinyl push-on-trim that covers the cut edge.. I believe they were brand new and modified (hole cut out), but may have a few scratches now.
I can take pics and take measurments if need be for you.

Thanks for the offer to take pictures. I'd like to see them when you get the chance. Are you selling them?

I have 4 of the hub caps with the centers cut out. The inside ID is 10 3/8". The amount of cup or dish 2 1/2".
We had these sent out and cut by a company, can't recall who/when/where. They appear to be stainless, and have a piece of cheap pinchwelt covering the edge of the cut out.
They do have shelf wear, minor scratches, a couple small dings.

    pm for price

Here's a what I've learned with these hubcaps. The red and gold fit the wheels with 3 "bumps" for hubcap mounting and the red and blue fit the wheels with 4 "bumps", 2 bumps are "regular" sized and 2 are much smaller. Sorry, pictures would explain it better, but I don't have the capability to do that. I was able to scrounge up the needed CJ rims from my junk and a friend"s to get the wheels I needed to run the "right" hubcaps and my collision shop buddy mounted and balanced eveything for some beer. Kinda backwards way to do it, but it worked for me.

Adding to the confusion, I've heard of, [but have not actually seen], another size out there for the J-Trucks. I hope this helps.

Some more info. The factory trim rings are tough to find. I used some I got on ebay from the cripe distributing store. Just chromed steel, not stainless or ABS. They look good and the price was right, brand new, $28.00 including shipping.

    way too much, IMHO.

I have seen single NOS go for less than $50 on ebay, sets around $100.

food for thought... it is fairly easy to take simple dents out of stainless steel hubcaps (if there are not deep creases) and buff them to a respectable shine.

Reason I bring it ups is I just picked up a full set of 4 of the R/W/B JEEP hubcaps about a month ago on ebay for $9.99 +sh. they have a few shallow dents which push out easu and need the paint redone.

unless you are after show quality, I would not put NOS caps on a jeep that would be seeing alot of driving (too easy to remove and run with  )
