Anybody got suggestions on better than average motor mounts? I got some at local parts store just a little while back and it feels like one is going bad again. Is there a better type of mount i should be getting?

    Thanks!

Where did you get your parts, Steve? You may get a better quality part at NAPA or from the DC dealer.

Usually these mounts will be designed so that they do not pull apart if the rubber separates. An old race car trick is to put a bolt through them before they are installed. This will limit their movement and keep them from being torn apart. You'll have to be creative about this though - too tight and you'll transfer the motor vibration to the frame, too loose and it'll rattle or be ineffective.

Tim, i got my parts at "Advance" probably not the best quality, i will check with Napa.

I use Advance because the one near me has a few guys that actually seem to know what they are talking about. (Advance took over the old "small town" parts place here) I know that seems odd for Advance but its just the one near me.

    Thanks Tim

The guy at the 4x4 shop near me said to put in new mounts and put a small piece of chain across it with about a 1/4 inch of slck. He said thats the only way hed found to keep them from pulling apart.

This sound ok to y'all? Id never heard such.

    thanks again!

Yeah I've heard of it. Same idea as the bolt.

Might look into Energy Suspension. I'm sure they have one as they make all kinds of good Poly motormounts with interlocks and such. M.O.R.E. also makes some they call "bombproof" mounts. Not sure about your application though. Nickmil.

Look at 4wd hardware, they have poly mounts for about $80 little more vibration transmission but oil won't affect them
