    Ok sparky just to recap for myself. Is the motor totally cutting out or is it stumbling bad? The neon has been stumbling since the addition of Ethanol to our gas and I wonder if it is not the same problem. The problem seems to be worse in my higher gears then 1st or 2nd

    Are you saying this started after you changed spark plugs? I had a similar problem twice in my life. Once on my Dodge Ram (it ran good until I put in Splitfire plugs; they don't like
    Splitfire plugs) and once on an old Ramcharger - They gave me the wrong plugs (I found out they didn't fire hot enough). Give some thought to putting the old plugs back in and taking it for a ride.....if you still have them.....

    Yes, I'm saying that the plugs are the only thing that I changed before this started that I haven't changed out yet. Heck no I don't have the old ones, that was 2.5 months ago. I got rid of the old ones of course, I bought new ones. ;)

    They're just AC Delcos, nothing "fancy". Doesn't mean it couldn't be a bad batch, the box was dropped, etc. I bought six of a box of eight.

    I have some old ones somewhere in a box, and most of them are broken. Do you think my broken spark plugs might be somehow causeing your Jeep to not run right?:) :)








    From looking at this thread, I am totally at a loss and I will now refrain from the rest of my useless comments. Let me know what the problem ends up being.

    Had a '64 Chevelle with a 283 and powerglide that had a similar problem. Turns out the PO had put an electric fuel pump in it and used the coil for juice. The coil would overheat and the problems would start. In other words it sounds like an electrical problem that is going to eventually turn up.

    I disagree about the Delco plugs sucking. I've used them plenty, always with good results.

    I do think you ought to change 'em out though. Especially since this problem started when you put plugs in it. If that doesn't work, do some asking around to find the best local guy with a portable ignition scope. A really good tech with a good scope can pinpoint just about any drivability problem- rich, lean, timing, bad coil, etc. A good tech with a portable scope can check the ignition pattern while the problem is occuring...

    Yeah, New(er) Champion plug failed me at Tellico.

    Two different sets of plug wires depending on the distributor I used, one Accel custom cuts, the other uh, El Cheapo FLAPS. R)

    OK lets see here everything but the plugs and a vacum check have been done so start there.

    And if it'll make you feel better my :v6: runs great. R)
    Lost the dern brakes again though. :cry: :mad:

    Let me rephrase, it RUNS great. Just doesn't GO great. R)

    Oh yeah, starter fluid for a vacuum check. When I checked the manifold vacuum the other nite it was 16-18 lbs.
