...do I need to replace the liner for my MIG gun if I go to a smaller diameter wire? I'm getting ready to go to a .023 wire (with gas) from a flux core .030 wire and think I can do it by just changing the tip... Any help? TIA:beer:

Yup just change the tip, and you should be fine.

I don't remember the diameters, but when I bought the gas conversion kit for my lincoln weld-pak it had a new liner.

There were also a couple of changes internally - the wheel that was mentioned, but also...thinking...something electrical - solonoid for the gas feed maybe? And a polarity change?

Took me an hour and a half or so to do the conversion..definitely more involved than a new tip.

The DVI I bought came with the spare grooved wheels for various sizes of wire, along with solenoid and gauges for running mixed shielding gas. Yes, the polarity does need to be changed when running flux-core, but that is very simple. I've practiced enough and have made quite a few little projects (rib racks, BBQ grill cooking surfaces, charcoal racks for a smoker, a skateboard grinding rail, ladder rack...) but for the thinner sheetmetal used on the BT3-C, I figured that .023 wire and gas would make for cleaner welds. We'll see...

You'll be amazed at the difference you'll see by switching to the .023 and gas...you'll never go back to flux core again.
Just switch the tip, the polarity, and the drive wheel and you should be good to go.
