    Three questions :

I believe the two wire sending unit is for the reverse lights. What is the single orange wire to the far left indicate ? Thanks

What information does the transmission tag provide ?

While I'm at it....when reassemblying the covers does the transfer case metal frame go over or under the large housing that covers the gearbox ?

    Thanks !!

it tells the model and application of the trans
    13-02-046 = Borg-Warner number
5351073 = Jeep part number for trans assy
in this case, the number tag tells me it's from a 1973/1974/1975 CJ model
T14A transmission, 3 speed full sunchro, used behind 232/258 staright six engine

If I recall, it's referred to as the "transmission controlled spark switch", an early style of emission control.
I believe it's only function is to sense when the Jeep is in high or 3rd gear; this sends a signal to another electrical switch, which then controls the amount of ported vacuum going to the dist vac advance; the theory being that at highway speeds, you don't need as much/any spark advance.
    that's what memory recalls anyway
a factory service manual would go into more details

You mean the ring that holds down the transfer case boot? IIRC it goes on top. Yes, 2-wires is backups, and 1-wire should be TCS.
