You'll have to measure both and see. Depending on how much lift you do, you may not need it.

im sure ill need it. from what i understand 5 inches is about as much as the stock shaft can stand... im rearching my springs for 2 inches, 2 1/2" shackles, probbly 3 inch blocks, and SOA. so around 11 or 12 inches of lift. ill need a shaft at least 6 inches longer so it will be like a 5" lift on the shaft. if anyone knows.. i would love to know what shafts are around that much longer or anywhere close and which ones will fit.

I think the drive shafts will be the least of your problems.

With that much lift your rear driveshaft is going to be almost verticle.

With the 4.5" lift is did, I had to lengthen my rear driveshaft. I also had to tilt the rear pinion up and go to a CV style drive shaft. Even with all of that, I am almost out of flex on the drive shaft when the rear axle is at full droop.

thats odd to have to do all of that with just 4 1/2" of lift. most feel its ok for SOA with a stock shaft. and im thinking that will be my best bet for a while. i will have my old very flexable flattened leafs on top of my axles haha.. it will be much smoother than an addaleaf.and it will be almost free.
i think having them rearched and then soa will be too much angle for my stock shaft, thats around 7 inches and i would love to know the stock length of shackles, hole to hole, on the cj 5 i beleive its a 78

I really think that a SOA with a stock shaft is not gonna leave you any "wiggle room". When I lifted my Wagon (SUA) I found a yoke at the junkyard that was a couple of inches longer than mine. This gave me a little insurance with the stock shaft. Keep in mind the Wagon is a street vehicle - Not gonna be much flexing going so I'm not worried. If you take your SOA off road with a stock drive shaft it may pull out or you won't have full contact on the splines and it will break.
