I am replacing the rubber between the windshield and the cowl. Is there supposed to be any kind of sealant used here? The old rubber isn't bolted down and there is some kind of sealant about an inch deep on the cowl. While I'm sure it wouldn't be this much! Is there supposed to be any type of sealant used? I thought the rubber was bolted to the windshield with no sealant. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andy

Mine was screwed with about 10-12 phillips head screws. I put my new one in usung silicone sealant, just a small bead under the gasket.

X2. I just replaced mine and used screws in the holes provided in the rubber. I used the permatex black weatherstrip sealant between the rubber and the windshield frame. I also shot a fair amount inside the lip part that fits over the front edge of the windshield frame. I then clamped it down in place on the jeep using the supplied windshield frame clamps on the dash / windshield.
