Who knows anything about shrinking sheet metal? I have gotten pretty good at stretching and warping it and would now like to learn how to shrink it.

I have looked around and it seems that shrinking it is mostly a process of heating and cooling. However when I have tried this all I've been able to accomplish is more stretching. I have seen serrated shrinking hammers in bodyworking hammer kits, but have no idea how that would even help. Seems to me that the little points would do a good job of stretching and not shrinking yet again.

Was at the shop yesterday. Got my toolbox reorganized and did some more bodywork to the heep. Wound up warping the bottom of a panel I had allready welded in and thats why I'm here doing homework and not back at it today. I know I can pull it back in when I redo the floors, but it would be nice to get the sides straighter. Not too worried as this is a crawler and I'm going for a structural resto and not a cosmetic resto.

    Thanks,
    Kevo

Very good site! Thanks for the link. For some reason I always get volunteered to do body work for people and am always looking for new tips on how to do things. Lots of info there.

Although, looking through that site kinda makes me miss my '70 Karmann Ghia so I don't know if I should go back to it.
