I have enjoyed reading the forum pages since I found them on the net a couple of weeks ago. This is my first post and I am out in Long Beach, CA and I am looking for seats for my 68. I have been told by several parts dealers that no one makes a seat that bolts on the existing frame without modifications. Is this true? I priced having the original low backs redone, but the two prices I got were in the upper $600 range. Any input would be appreciated.

I just mounted a set of Smittybuilt fixed back seats in my 66. Got them on sale from 4 Wheel Parts for $99 each and 15% off.

Like Tumbleweed said, the driver's side mounted up fine. For the passenger side, I fabbed a bracket out of 1" square stock. Bolted that to the seat and those fit perfectly inside the original bracket. Then I just cross-drilled through both and fastened with grade 8 bolts.

I would love to put Mastercraft seats in, but I just don't spend enough time in it to justify spending that much on seats when I still want to do the sagi conversion, 11" brakes, paint, etc. etc. etc.

    Good luck.

I got high back bucket seats out of an 80's or so BMW. They are Recaros and both passenger and driver bolted up to the rails w/ no problems.
