I have a Holley 390 with a exhaust acuated choke, the carb came off a 1958-64 Rambler W/250-327 engine. I want to change it to an electric choke. I contacted Holley and asked what conversion kit do I need. Well I needed to supply the List#, well it's not legible, probably not stamped to deep and bead blasted off. Has anyone converted one over? It seems that one kit does't fit all 4bbl carbs. I kind of figured I had application and they could of helped a little more. But I do understand w/o the list their computer won't tell the tech which one I need.

All of mine came with an electric choke - not sure if they are the same, but will be willing to compare if needed.

I've got an electric choke conversion that won't fit my 5200 2Bbl, should be a bolt-on for your 390 CFM. PM me if you are interested.

I've found that almost all of the parts for the 4150 and 2300 style carbs are interchangeable, aftermarket or OEM. The electric choke is a cover with an electrically heated bimetal element that replaces the exhaust-heated bimet on the side of the carburetor - if it's the right diameter, it should work. The standard sized cover is 2-3/16" diam as I recall.

You may want to add an oil pressure switch to the electric choke, so that it does not heat up when the key is on and the engine is not running. Be sure to plug the choke stove inlet on the carb, or you'll have a vacuum leak.
