After six months I finally got my '69 5 back together enough to fire it up today. The heater core the PO installed is from a later 70s model and has to be in upsidedown to fit. I tried to modify it to make it fit correctly and of course it leaks badly.

I'll bypass it for the summer, but I have been unable to find a core for a 69. Does anyone have a source?

BTW - I'll post some pics later this week. It's about time you guys got a look at what you've been working on for the last six months.

Any good rad shop should be able to replace the core and use your ends to make it like new.

I've got a spare too if your other sources don't work. :)

Thanks guys. I'll probably start with our local radiator shop since I can live without the core for a few months during the summer. It's the only shop around for about 100 miles that still does work like this, and they are only open from 8:30 to 4:00 on weekdays. I have to take vacation time to do business with them, but they can probably do the mods (and not cheaply).

Hippo393 - I may have to take you up on that core if this does not work.

The local Autozone has a core for my '70. You should check them out, they may have one for yours too.

I got one for my 66 from rock auto (www.rockauto.com). It fit pretty well but I did have to work on the housing a little bit since the tubes were a little closer together than the original. I think it cost about $25 if I remember correctly.
