Really. How hard could it be to change a T-stat? Taking it all out was pretty simple. Rip. Out. Putting it back seems to be another matter. I changed lifters and pushrods, laid manifold back down, all bolted up. Just thought I'd slip the T-stat together before the carb got in the way...

Am I missing something? That little bypass hose is a pain, no? Arrggghh.

How do we get the housing and all back nicely without teaching the neighbor's horse some new language? I am almost to the point of pulling the water pump out and putting it back last. All over a friggin' T-stat?
    This is nuts.

    R) I've had mine in and out 3x now.

I used a dab of Vasoline to hold the t-stat in the intake so I didn't chew up the gasket like I did the first 2x.

Little hose wasn't much an issue, left it on the water pump and wrangled it onto the housing after the housing was bolted down IIRC.

Just in case some other hapless fool has to figure this out: unbolt the coil, plenty of wiggle room for the little hose then..........

Oh! I don't have that issue with the HEI. I wondered what was so difficult.

Just as a side, this hose is still available at NAPA should you need one. New hoses seem to be a bit forgiving than old ones when it comes to bending and twisting them around.
