Hey group. I need to put my '74 restore on hold for a little while. Here's the situation, I sandblasted the body last fall, thinking I would do some body work and prime/paint before it got too humid here in Atlanta.

Reality kicked in, and now I have a bare metal body, that needs work (welding, etc.), but I can't do it for awhile, maybe as much as next fall. I think I need to protect the body from moisture, but don't want to go through the hassle of removing whatever I put on when I get ready to weld/prime/paint. The Jeep will be inside the garage for the duration.

I've read the threads about Por-15, Eastwood Rust Encapsulator, Rust Bullet, but I'm not sure those are the right things to do. I have a small air compressor, but no paint guns etc. (willing to buy a cheap one just for this though). Eventually, my intention is to cut out the bad body parts, weld in new, and paint it to the original Renegade Plum. Any expert advice on this storage issue? I am a novice about prime/paint etc.

Just get some rattle can primer/sealer, Duplicolor makes a good one. Hit it w/ three light coats(1st one real light, last 2 heavier) about 15 min between coats and be done w/ it. When getting back into the project you'll need to scuff it up w/ 180 grit and begin your paint process. No big deal.:v6:

Hmm...somehow I was thinking this is a complicated thing to do. That sounds easy enough.

That's how I did mine. Jut make sure you use the primer sealer as regular primer will still absorb moisture, the primer sealer won't.
