    My 75 CJ-5 doesn't have a power steering box and didn't have an air pump or the brackets when I bought it. However, I later found and bought a power steering/air pump assembly and brackets with the intent of installing a working air pump on the engine for emission purposes. Should I leave the p.s. pump in there and use it's pulley as an idler so I can run the smog pump (probably not the best way) or did AMC have an idler pulley installed in that location on all manual steering CJ's? Thanks.

    the power steering pulley should be a dual groove, as it drives the air pump with a different belt; with power steering, the air pump mounts to part of the power steering bracket
    LPS = less power steering
    WPS = with power steering

    Jim,

    Thanks a lot. Those pics are great. Did you get those out of a Jeep TSM/FSM?

    I'll have to take the power steering pump off and see if I can get the brackets I have (on right in the pic) to work with just the air pump. If not, I guess I'll need to find the other style bracket.

    Thanks again, Pete

    they are from the Jeep parts manual.
    Look at full size Jeeps also if you need to search.
    don't limit your search to CJs only
