My other thread on this subject got hijacked so I'll ask it here. If I choose to paint the timing cover, will it need Metal Ready? For that matter does it need POR-15 or can I just paint it w/ the engine color? Response from POR-15 and POR Engine Paint Kit users especially sought after.:v6:

I used the cleaner, then the metal ready. Then the POR 15. From what I remember the motor paint is just a paint.

Got any pictures Eddy? Your right, the paint is just paint, high pigment content though. The Al doesn't need rust protection is the reason why I thought I might just put on the paint. Curious, did you use a brush or spray?

I have been using it on all the parts as I pull them out to redo. I have been using a brush on the small parts. I am getting ready to pull the tub and do the frame. When I do I will use a spray gun. I think I can thin it by 10% or so. I will do the same procedure as the small parts, only I will use a top coat of some kind over the POR.
