I know a few of you have notched the rear wheel well to get more leg room (I'm 6-1). do you have any pointers for me as I get ready to do mine? I can drive my CJ, but just barely!!:(

I put in a smaller steering wheel. The angle you mount the seats have some
effect. And reclining seats will help also. The PO put Toyota Celica seats
in mine. I was going to swap them out, but the bolster is really small. The
part you sit on. So I gained some space there too. Think I'll keep them for
    now.

Well, my problem is leg room and I am up tight against the wheel well. Only solution is to cut the wheel well and box it. Anybody done that?

Easy, buy a cj-6. Plenty of leg room.

Yep...the Boyink notch is one of the best 'comfort mods' I've done. Don't be afraid to cut the metal away, It's easy and best of all, it's worth the time. Took all of an hour and a half to complete. I took 2 inches out... it's just right! Oh, I'm 6'2" with a big gut ;)

I did with the 31's and sagging 50 year old springs. Problem solved with the new springs and tires ;)

Don't know yet. I haven't stuffed the tires all the way yet to find out, but it's definately a compromise between leg room and tire clearance when deciding how much to notch. I test fit a couple of differrent distances before picking. I also didn't notch the passenger side as much as the driver's side.

I looked at it the other way, and decided to cut away the sheet metal in the seat. I have the old low-back seats, and the part I cut away was in no way contributing to the structural integrity, so I just cut a notch where it hit the fender well. I gained an extra 1 1/2 inches, just enough to allow my foot to have some flex. I don't even notice the legroom anymore. I also go the bright idea to raise the seat, only to find out quickly that I couldn't see out the windshield any longer.
