Someone please.....I got the donor Jeep (75 CJ-5) and the front engine items were off....found out later the water pump was bad and they must have been in mid change. Included in the back of the Jeep was a crank pulley and a water pump pulley. The 2 pulleys looked cleaner and not as rusted....as if from another Jeep. I changed water pump (matched old one) and placed the 2 pulleys on and there is only 1/32 between the 2, but they don't seem to hit. The alt was too far forward, so I moved the 1/8 spacer from between the alt and extension to between the alt and front bracket...it almost lined up. Got the 2 missing belts and realized things aren't right. The alt belt fit fine, the PS belt was too short and as with the alt, the power steering pump pulley was too far forward. Also I believe the PS pump/PS pump pulley to be correct and original as it matched the rest of the dirt and rust. It is a twin pulley with the rearward pulley wider and larger than the front one. There is a bracket under the PS pump, but nothen there now.. I thought maybe an air pump, but no tubes at the exhaust manifolds. So the smaller outer pulley is empty and the larger inner one is wider than the matching groove set on the crank/water pump. This wider groove at the PS, too short of a PS belt, alt and PS pump not lining up with the main pulleys, all tell me I have the wrong main pulleys. I even tried putting a 6 CYL pulley on my pump and its closer, but still 1/4 inch too far forward...I don't want to shime out the 2 main pulleys...I want it done right.
SO does the 304 crank and water pump pulley have twin smaller grooves for a 13/32 wide v belts or a wider groove in the front for a 15/32 wide v belt? The number on my water pump pulley is 3228285 and the 2 Gates belts I have are ALT at 7430 and PS at 9530.
I am so close to having my CJ-6 up and running again...someone help me out here.Thanks.

    Thanks Tumbleweed.
I did several E bay searches for pictures and have found twin groove (same size) and 3 groove pulley sets (Looks like a larger outer groove..cant tell). I'm wondering if maybe my 2 pulleys in question came off a 360 wagoneer or something with a different offset than the older 304 CJ....for now, I'm using a 258 pulley on my pump to get it 1/2 back further and I made 2 spacers for the twin pulleys to bring them out 1/8 inch forward. This will line up the alt (spaced back 3/8 or so) and almost lines up the powersteering.....enough to run it using a thinner belt. Maybe oneday I'll find out the answer, just want it up and running for now.Thanks.

Thanks Jim. My numbers are 3228285 for the water pump and 3228284 for the crank pulley...both twin groove. So if your listing shows them for a 76 to 79 and maybe those years engines have different mounting brackets for the PS pump and alt, maybe the previous owner got them from a Jeep in that span and thats why my 1975 brackets are causing the alt and PS not to line up with the newer pulleys..just a theory.
    Thanks!
