new Bestop for $175

I found a guy locally that has a "new, never installed" Bestop for a CJ5. Sounds like it's for the early ones, is black, but he says he's lost or misplaced all the bows and hardware. $175 for the top, doors, and bikini top. Does anybody know if you can buy just the bows and hardware from Bestop? I'm thinking of checking this out, but don't want to waste my time or money.

Thoughts?

 

Best guess is to head to there website and get there number and give them a hollar.

 

I thought Boyink mentioned one time that they would no longer sell components? Maybe he'll chime in.

 

Ron - I've got a set of bows that Dennis let me use when I was designing my rollcage. They're for a Tigertop - just sitting here waiting for a good home! I'm not sure, but you can probably fab the hardware needed. Let me know if you want em.

I've got an extra set of bows for a 56. I think they have the mounting bracket at the bottom. If you get the top and think it's worth a drive across town to pick up the bows, they're yours. PM me if you're interested and I'll send you a map to my place. I just checked them out. They have the brackets and the side tubes are covered with black plastic tubes.

It's been a couple of years now but I bought the hardware alone directly from Bestop with no problems at all.

 

I've decided to pass on this top. Buying a top I don't need right now just because it's a good deal would be stupid, IMO. I could put that $175 to much better use to advance the project.

Guy says it's new, never installed, and in great shape. The doors are all there and assembled, it's black, comes with a bikini top too. The whole kit came with a '55 he bought once, which also had a hard top. He sold the '55 about 3 years ago, and he forgot the bows/hardware were stashed under the rear seat and they went away with the Jeep. $175 in Littleton, CO.

 

If anybody would like for me to go look at this for them and take some photos, let me know. I'd be happy to. He also has the complete front and rear axles off of a '55-'57 vintage CJ5, including wheels and tires (not stock Willys wheels, they're chrome reverses).

 

Does this mean we won't get to meet Annie this weekend?
