I was talking to my buddy and he said he's going to the air shock instead of leafsprings and coils for his suspension.

Are you talking air shocks or something like Airride suspension?

Air ride suspension, actualy there charged with a gas and they flex and take the place of leaf springs. You can adjust your lift height with the gas.I've been looking at air bags suspension.

I just got done 'fixing' a slammed chevy at work with airbags. Huge PITA to work on and then trouble shoot the leaks. I'd stay away from airbags being the primary spring in a suspension. Have you ever seen a compressed air system that didn't leak? What a pain!

The air shocks are cool. Price is right and its a tight package. However, I've heard there are some issues. From what I understand there is a weight range that they work best in. Also the height and spring rate is determined by the amount of pressure you put into them, but also the temperature of the shock. Some guys have complained of the vehicle gaining lift as the shock warms up and then losing it when the vehicle sits for awhile.

If I had my choice and I could figure out how to mount them I'd go with standard coilovers. The spring rates as well as compression and rebound dampening work independantly of each other. Harder to tune and more expensive, but its more consistent and predictable once dialed in.

You should talk with Dave over at Polyperformance.com, they know shocks!

Ps. I hope that didn't sound like an add.
