Has anybody seen the CJ5s for sale on the WilysTechPartsBoard? It's a guy in SC with two '63?? CJ5s, one that doesnt run that has a title and one that does that doesnt have a title. He is also including a L134 drivetrain. All for a $1000.

I am thinking about taking a gamble and buying sight unseen and no pictures. What am I risking? Is the worse case scenario I could part out and get my money back? I am a flatfender guy so I am hoping to use some parts and end up finishing my CJ3a and have a CJ5 to play with or sell.

If you're going to gamble, hedge your bets. I'd rather risk the trip than be stuck with junk. Send him a deposit, say $100, and go look at them when you can. You can still back out and he can keep the deposit. JMO.

Shoot. He already dropped his prices three times I believe. Offer him 800.00 and go from there. He seems pretty desparate to get rid of them.

IMHO I would e-mail him and try to get pics at least.

I already did that and I have talked to him on the phone. He will take 800 or 1000 delivered to charleston. THat is a pretty good deal I thought. I only have until Wednesday before they get junked to kaiserwillys in Aiken.

You could be buying worn out junk, or you could end up with a bunch of good parts. It's all a gamble, and you don't know if you won or lost till you look at each part.

You would most likely be better off spending the money on new parts you specifically need.

Tell him to buy a cheapie throw away camera that you will pay for. Take pics of all angles and ask about the frame. Have him overnight it to you. You develope and see!
