I am hoping that someone can tell me if or how the CJ-6 frame and tub changed after 1975 (76 to 81 export). From page 30 on Fosters Story of Jeep 2nd ed. you can see that all the 76 CJ changes apply, except for the narrow frame width in the rear. What I cant see in the picture is if the frame is now boxed from the engine to the rear? Are the seat brackets fixed or folding? Is there an underseat passenger storage box? I see the gas filler changed too, but what about the rest of the body...inner sheetmetal.etc? Any other changes no in the picture?
    Thanks

I expect this will be a hard question to answer, considering that domestic production of the CJ-6 ended in 1975 (plus I'm not really sure what you are asking!?). I would have guessed that the export CJ-6s would be very much like the domestic '75s except for minor changes like the taillights, maybe the T-150 instead of the B-W transmissions. Jeep would have had to do a major retooling of the CJ-6 to incorporate the changes of the '76 model year in the CJ-6 - new floor, new frame, new springs, new rear axle, new transmissions, new windshield, new dash, new seat frames... the list goes on.

<edit> I reread the question and think I understand better. If the frame is narrow in the rear (in the picture of the export model that you are looking at), then the changes are essentially cosmetic, and it's basically the same as the last domestic version.
