And I saw this seal and wondered if it was the right one but I just don't think that there would be enough room for it to fit.

That's the inner axle seal and goes just outside of the diff. You have to pull the diff and install it in the axle tube from the inside of the diff housing.

What he said! If you need to replace them: take a l;ength of 3/8" or 1/2" allthread cut a little longer than the space between the seals, a couple of washers about the size of the seal (I think I used the thick malleable washers) and a couple of nuts. Use this to press in the seals one at a time. You may have to grind a little of the washer to get it to fit in the recess the seals go into. I might be able to post a pic of mine tomorrow if you need to see it. When you pull the diff carrier, mark the left and right bearing caps. They need to go back on the same side they came off of and oriented the same way ie top and bottom.

I don't think they are designed to take the place of the inner seals.

Those seals are more for keeping crud out of the axle tube. Not for keeping oil in the pumpkin.

Ya i need one of those too because there was no seal at all on the outer to keep crud out of the shaft and I was wondering if that one would work?

Theres a thread on JU right now about those and how they don't fit on CJ D30. Stock it should have a sheet metal disc on the axle shaft to cover the hole.

Well that stinks I wonder where I can find a seal like that because my axles go under water a lot and those were very helpful.
