What is my best source for parts, in this case a new fuel pump. Do you establish an online relationship or deal with a local shop?

For alot of stuff like this I turn to Carl at Walck's 4WD http://www.walcks4wd.com or Dan at Turner 4WD, http://www.thejeep.com/ or Ron at Kaiser Willys http://www.kaiserwillys.com/ Those are impeccable companies and very knowledgable folks to deal with in my experience.

If you can buy locally go for it but for a lot of stuff you'll have to go to guys like I listed above. Call any of those listed above, don't use the web...

I don't know what motor you have...
For me, for example, with the :v6: when I needed a fuel pump 3 weeks ago, I went with my local parts place. He beat Walcks and Krage by a buck or so, including shipping from these places... Next morning, Carter pump.. BUT, as the lead tech at the shop I work at, I get Jobber prices, and spend about 2K a month in parts.. Plus, he is a small/ private bussiness in a small town, and I try to support places like that..

Psst, Patrick, his Jeep profile says he has an F-head with an electric fuel pump he wants to replace with the original. ;)

For a :v6: sure I'd go someplace local for sure.

Actually, the last fuel pump my brother bought for his boat anchor......... I mean F head was from NAPA....
Kidding of course with the boat anchor comment.......:D

I'm not sure there is a boat around that could float that sucker before you could throw it out and anchor the boat....

    I'm joking!!!!!! Sorry.....;)

FWIW, I bought a new fuel pump from my local AutoZone. Had to call a couple, but it wasn't too far away. And you only need the vacuum if you're running the vacuum wipers.

Boat anchor!!!? when I got mine from NAPA several years ago NAPA only listed the one for the vacuum wipers, insalled it anyway, just left the vacuum ports open been working fine since.

Patrick, my brother I will talk to you later about the "boat anchor" thing.
