I am pondering making a set of rear shock hoops to get my rear shocks perpendicular with the axle and get the axle shock mounts out of the way of trail debris. So I just was snooping around my jeep and saw that the frame is not flush to the tub edge so i have to make a mount that clears the tub. Since i have waggie axles i have a bit more play, but i am just not sure how much arv the axle and tire has to rub on the shock body? I am guessing that i will have to jack the one corner up and see what my travel is, but i am curious to how much does an axle arc, is it something noticable like 3-4 inches or something smaller? I am probably very vague on this, but just curious. I do not want to notch the tub for the shocks, i want to keep it stock.

Dan I would guess that your axle will move up at least the 3-4 inches maybe more esp. with the yj springs. Are you wanting the shocks up in the fenderwell?? If so you'll prob have to flex it out and see how much space you have between the tire and fenderwell...

yeah i want it up in the fenders. Worst thing is i have to wait till i get my boggers, cause i know that is the tire i want to run and they are much wider than what i am running now.

Might be able to find someone with the same size boggers on the same width rim you want and compare a cross measurment to what you have with the Ltbs to figure out how close it will be. may not be exact but it will prob be close.

I found a guy in my club with a set of the boggers i want and am trying to get a price for him, possibly trade my LTBs :) He is trying to sell the jeep so i am trying to get the tires. Will have to give him a call over the weekend. Unfortunately i will have to get a new set of rims to go with the tires, since the 7 inch wide rims i hav really wont work well with 14.50 wide boggers ;)

Thanks Tumlbe! I have seen the F250, i do think they are the same as the waggie front extended hoop. I think for these i really want to make them. I already have a hoop set in the front, and it would match with the tubing set in the rear. Guess i am getting to be a softy that i want things to "match" on the jeep ;) :) I tried to use teh waggie montus for the front of my jeep, but they were surprising not long enough for the jeep. A friend of mine whipped up a set of tube ones real quick :)

Those are great shock towers! Although I had heard that ford discontinued them.

I have similar shock location issues in the rear. I don't know how much flex your setup has, but mine rubs on the wheel well. Theres no way I could mount shocks verticaly on mine without cutting through the tub. I had to lay them over at an extreme angle to get them to fit. I think the only way people are able to mount them verticly and have good flex is to run full width axles. Theres just not enough room otherwise.

I'll be interested to see what you come up with.
