225 Freeze Out Plugs

Does anyone have a 225 freeze out plug that they can measure for me? i need to know the diameter. My 215 takes 1.5" plugs, and is missing 2. I think a 225 will use the same plugs. it's a lot easier to go to the autoparts store and find 225 parts than it is to find 215 parts.

if anyone has a couple of unused plugs left over from a rebuild, i'd be interested in taking them off your hands..... thanks.

 

Freeze plugs are a common standard part, just tell them the diameter you need and the depth they don't need to know what there from. Mine were supplied and installed from the company that bored and honed the block.

 

I dicovered that I have one leaking in my 231. Looks like the diameter of it is 1.5".

What is the recomended way of getting the old one out?

 

get a 3/8 extension and tap one side. as it rotates, pull it out with a gripping device of some sort. try not to break it. if its coroded, you can punch a hole in it with a flat screw driver and pry it out. bring a hammer, screw driver, and channel locks or vise grips and make sure it doesnt drop inside. (thats not fun).
