I'm trying to install the parking brake for a '71, and need to find out where to anchor the cable housing. On the skid plate? tranny x-member? Other? How & with what?

I saw a great pic of one here in the last couple weeks but can't find it now. Blasted! :bleah: TIA

I would be interested in seeing these pics also, I have replaced my (completely missing) parking brake assembly but have yet to anchor the cable. There appears to be a bracket on my xcase crossmember, but it doesn't work for whatever reason, perhaps my swapped in t18.

Not sure where mine was anchored, either. I bent (heated) a u-joint strap to anchor it, and bolted it to the crossmember.... Looks too cold out to get a pic now....:D

Mike, nice pics of a nice Jeep there.

Any chance to post a direct pic of where the cable housing attaches to the x-member? I'd like to see how/what/where it attaches. Thanks!

Opps, I was thinking of the wrong X member:(
Look at these and see if they show what you need. It was hard to get a good shoot because of my PTO shaft. If these don't work well just try again:)

Great, just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for all the great pics!!

Edit: Ron, I too have one of those brackets that I can bolt on. But....the cable end is too small and simply passes right through the hole. :? I guess I'd need to see what that bracket looks like w/ an actual cable installed. Any chance of that?

Also, where to get that other locking clamp? I presume that "tab" is there so it doesn't twist once a force is applied to it, no?

Zed: in the middle pic, what's the purpose of that rubber mount/bushing w/ a bolt thru it on the side of the tranny mount? Whazzit fer?

Ron, I have the bracket on the xmember like yours but it is no where near the right place, guess cause the t18 I put in.

Hmm, that bracket is where the "anti chatter" cable that attatches to a tranny bolt goes on my '67 V6... No where near where the ebrake cable goes...

Well, hmmm. I thought that was for the e-brake cable, at least I assumed that's what it was for, since my '56 doesn't appear to ever have been equipped with an e-brake. It has the drum assembly and the actuating lever, but nothing else. It looked like it lined up with the lever, so hence my assumption. Now I don't know.
