well, when i get hyped on something...

these springs look awesome. forget the wrangler springs. time to save.
you guys think a 1-2" body lift and these 3" springs will be too much with 33's on an '68? i dont do heavy 4x4in', but we do have some 4x4 ONLY trails out here in the arizona mountains and i want some good pics....
also, we just bought a new digi camera with a gig stick, so i can take 55 minutes of video and like 1530 pics. so i will document this engine reuild i am about to start. ill get some good pics of these crazy parts i am stickin in this puppy..=) (especially these funky pistons, they are WACK)

2" of spring lift will clear 34's you'll have plenty of room.

With regular 2.5" lift springs and 33s' you wouldn't really need a body lift, but I don't know about the Holbrook springs, what kind of flex/movement they give.

Does it really matter? Don't bumpstops limit the travel upward anyway?

they offer ALOT of travel. but i dont want body to tire rub so bump stops might not limit that if its a wack configuration. i think i will just stick a 1" body on and these holbrooks (which give 3" just from the setup according to their website).

That's what I wasn't sure about with the Holbrook springs since they're different than just lift springs.:)

    neptco19 That guy....

IIRC when I spoke to them about the kit they suggested running 32-33" tires. Mainly due to the amount of uptravel they have. IF you wanted to go larger you would need to do BL or larger bumpstops.

Thanks for the link. I am beginning to build up my '46 on a '69 frame and have been searching & reading 'bout spring setups. I was considering the yj spring route but this sounds like a a simpler alternative with equal results. Keep us posted if you end up using the Holbrooks.

80% sure on these. if they dont go out of buiz before i save for em..lol.
happened 2x before with wrangler conv people.
they are $745 on 71 and earlier for the kit. welding required.
i have a welder friend and lots of time so...i will keep a large photo album online.

then 33" it is. now i have to save for my gears, OD and other set of 33's (i have 2 now). ACK. money pit.
it should do well though cause here shortly i will have:
a dana 30 front with disks/d44 rear both with powertrax
4.88's with 33" and twin sticked d18/OD or 4.27's and no OD unit.
4 bbl 231 punched .030 with awesome low end torque
    sm420 granny tranny
a/c converted to air pump and tank airing tires up on trails
holbrooks with about 4" of lift total (1" body, 3" spring kit)
    saginaw style power steering.
should be a descent jeep. nothing professional quality, but go most places i am brave enough to go.
    thoughts? anything i am missing?

Sounds like a very safe and sane setup to me.

They are easy to put on, my body happened to be off but pretty easy. The welding comes in after they are installed, welding the frame brackets on. I strongly suggest calling them and talking to them, great folks, lots of experience. The lift, articulation, smoother ride is what sold me. Nice package. A note, if you have AA cable clutch kit you will have to modify the anchor spot 'cause the rear spring perch interferes. I will be lifting my body 1 3/4 inch for tire clearance during articulation.

i do have the clutch cable, but i mounted it on the inside of my frame. assuming the springs mount on the bottom of the frame, i think i will be clear..err i hope i will be clear..lol
    its easily relocated tho.
i am thinking of that new metallic burnt sierra orangish color on the new chevy's. that color looks suweeEEeet. along with rhino liner on the floor and underneath.

The Red '51 in my avitar has a 2" Body Lift and the Holbrooks on it (Running a 31" tire). I loved them last summer with the Rancho 5000's and have plans to put 9000's on for this summer. Some more tweeking with the bump stops and longer brakes lines should make me feel a little better as well.

I meant to say, AA chain clutch conversion. Still it is easily dealt with.

Unless they all retire at the same time (unlikely) they'll be around. They've been in business in the same location since the early mid '70's.:) I used to go into their shop when a kid with my dad to buy parts for his GPW. Nickmil.
