I'm thinking about using a PVC single ply membrane for a bikini top, but I've never seen how a bikini top attaches to the windshield channel. Has anyone got closeup pics of theirs? This is for my '62.
    Thanks,

It goes in the channel just like a regular soft top....
    Is that what you mean?

It just tucks into the channel and flips over the windshield.

The bikini top has a thick cardboard or something sewn into the front edge where it slides into the groove from the bottom up, then flips over the top.

You could probably sew or otherwise attach some sort of "stiffener" to the PVC and do the same. Think aluminum bar stock, like 1/4" x1/8"x length needed would work.

Bikinis are pretty cheap. Why not just buy one? You got to figure what your time is worth for $50 -60 bucks plus the cost of materials. Also, in your avatar, there appears to be no rollbar. Since there is no framework for a bikini, you need the rollbar for support.

Patrick - That's the channel I'm talking about. Don't have a regular soft top either so I'm flying blind, so to speak. .
Dennis - I tried a piece of the material in the channel as you suggested - there's resistance, but it slips out eventually.
Thad - I'll try folding over the material & heat weld it or place a 1/8" dia. rod in the fold-over.
Posimoto - I'm Cheeep R) - actually the material is free (Durolast roofing - 88% reflectivity 8) ) besides I just want to see how well the material works in the hot Texas sun. My rollcage is being powdercoated now and I'll be ready to put something on top of it to keep the sun off my shiny spot  .
Thanks for the help - I'll let you know how it turns out. :)

I made my own out of sunbrella fabric. I took a piece of soft top window plastic about a half an inch wide and the length of the channel. I sewed it the the front to the cloth, wrapped the cloth around the plastic a few times and sewed it again. I haven't had a problem with it pulling out yet
