Just picked up a t14 mount from 4WD Hadware today, but none of the 3 tranny bolt holes match up w/ it. Not even close! Here's a pic; I inverted the tranny for the photo-op:

Did I get the wrong part? Krage's catalog has the same part #, so I dunno. What am I to do with this thing?

Well, you could do like I did when I swapped in a T14, and opened up the holes in the new tranny mount....:smash:

Ahhh, the old drill-a-buncha-extra-holes technique. :D But then how would I know the correct alignment of the tranny on the x-member so that it's centered or whatever?

I do have a drill press.......but not the right part. :(

No, actually it was the old pneumatic die grinder with a carbide bit technique.... I just let the motor mounts (the front ones) self center the engine/ trans/ t case, then drilled holes in the cross member. The t86 used a plate between the trans. and the mount.. I got rid of that and bolted the mount straight to the trans....

There should be another piece to the mount.

I will get a photo tomorrow am. There should be a flat piece of steel that goes with the mount. The whole setup should consist of a the mount (steel) with molded rubber on it and a separate steel plate. The parts only fit together one way.

Unless you put it together like I did, and eliminated the plate....
    Keep in mind, I swapped in a t14 from a t86...

Ok I found the plate that was attached with the old mount. In this pic I held 'em up side by side so as to see the bolt pattern. Is this correct?

I've got the mount on the left....should I rather have the one on the right?
    Blasted!

Ok, one mystery solved. Thanks guys.

    Mystery #2 is........
The old "plate" in the pic is deteriorated beyond use. Why wasn't a NEW one included in the new mount purchase? Is this omission typical; should I drive another 50 minutes to 4WD HADware to return/complain? Do I have to go fishing for another plate somewhere? If so, where? :?

To complicate matters, the parts CD doesn't even mention tranny mounts anywhere unless it's under "electrical" or something. (calling jpflat2a....)
Moreover, for some odd reason Krage has 2 diffo tranny mounts for this app....I've got the one on the left, and maybe I should have the one on the right instead?? (to view pic, clicky on linky: )

the plate was always sold seperately, never included
you should use the larger mount, the one on the left
IIRC the mount is offset to one side :?
here is a parts book pic

Mine is offset to the passenger side - that is to say the mount is bolted into the passenger side of the plate. Kinda like in Jim's diagram ;)

I have the mount that your talking about for my CJ. I will take a photo and try to get it on the site if you like. Yes, you are missing the steel plate for the mount you have. And it has a bunch of holes in it.

Alan you could get the steel plate made in most any fab shop in about 15 minutes.
