TH350 will be better suited to off-roading than a M21 transmission.

Or you could sell the M21 to a musclecar enthusiast and buy an SM420/465.

My vote is TH350/D300. Better crawl ratio by far and away.

i agree with sparky sell the munce cause i think m21 is a close ratio and it has a high first gear but if you are talking munce sm420/465 then ide stick with that combo unless you want the auto

I should clarify, between a M21/D20 and a TH350/D300 the second will have a far better crawl ratio than the first.

The SM420/or SM465 would have a good crawl ratio.

As always, the question is "what kind of wheeling are you doing with the Jeep?" This will drive your decision.

M 21 works great if you are into sand dragging.
But I love my hydraulic clutch. Their is no linkage to bind up.

Won't a TH350/D300 be too long for an ECJ5??? I have an SM465/D18 and my rear driveshaft is 13" long. I have a Chevy V8 so that moved everything back, but it seems to me that the automagic would be really long...

TH350s have been put in 5's for quite some time now by different folks, usually with a D18 though. Is it the D300 that makes it too short?
