    Can sombody help me with a basic description of what is involved in removing the transmission and transfer case only in a 76 cj5?

    Tranny is a t150, seems it has only 4 bolts if i remember holding it to the bellhousing.

    The transfer case is attatched to tranny and bolted to skid plate, right?

    I need to remove the transfer case to replace some seals (Dana20) and have been needing to replace the mounts as well.

    Thanks for the help with the beginner questions.

    place support(s) under the bellhousing to hold engine
    then you can remove the large skid plate, which also acts as the x member; CAUTION: there are threaded nuts welded inside the frame; they can break loose, if they haven't already.
    remove carpet and necc floor panels; unscrew trans top shift lever retainer, remove shift lever;
    after disconnecting drivelines, disconnect speedo cable at transfer case, along with 4wd indicator lamp wire and b/u wire; vent hoses if equipped.
    disconnect transfer case lever and clutch linkage
    unbolt from bellhousing and slide back carefully
    tranny jack works best
    floor jack is used carefully while balancing units
    simple, right?
