With the V6 recently installed on the frame, I'm wanting to run the engine for a while before slapping the body/fender/grille on to check for probs. I'm using a remote switch with 2 aligator clip connections. :( Soooo...where should the 2 remote switch connections be hooked to? I don't want the starter to be running all the time (like now...when I let the button go the engine stops).

As of now there are the basic wiring installed just to get 'er running. Just need to know which spots I should clip the clips to...I want the starter to spin but yet stop once she starts goin'. Make sense?

Is your regular ignition switch wired? If so here's what I do - it needs to be in the run position so the ignition is getting juice. Then for a remote start put one alligator on the positive of the battery and the other on the start 'S' of the starter solinoid (the small wire). Your switch would be in this line. Either use a button or flip the toggle off once it starts.

    Hope this helps.

One clip on the big terminal of the solenoid (the cable that leads to the battery) and the other one goes to the "start" (small) terminal on the solenoid. You'll also need a long wire with alligator clips to go from the (+) terminal of the battery to the (+) terminal of the coil. (This is your "ignition switch")

    Clear as mud? :D

LoL thanks guys, yes it's clear as mud. :D Bob, the answer to the first Q is NO. :D
As of now I've got (from what I recall) one alligator clip on the + on the starter, and the other on the "start" terminal on the solenoid. Thus, when the remote button is depressed, I therefore become depressed when the starter remains engaged during the process. My wants are rather simple...the starter kicks off when I release the remote button, yet the engine continues to run.

It'll be a while before I can wire this baby up the way it should. This effort is such that I won't wire 'er up if'n there be any probs with the V6 or the tranny. I just want to run the engine to check for probs!!
