Melling oil pump ?

    I am installing my new high volume oil pump. What are the indexing marks on the gears for? There is no reference to these in the install instructions.
    Trying to get some other things done while I wait for my connecting rod to come in.

    captaincj....I can't help you with the question about indexing marks but I can say that I followed the instructions on the Melling kit word for word and it went in like a champ with no problems. Maybe you should just ignore these mysterious indexing marks.

    The indexing marks are tooling marks for pressing the gears on the shaft. Ignore them!
