Anyone Modify their horn contact??

I really really want my horn back. I had it working when i had the GM style column in the jeep, and now after i put the intermediate column in my jeep it doesnt want to work. I pulled the column apart and cleaned the large copper ring on the inside, and had to resolder a new wire to it that goes up through the tube. With that all done, i had tofix the plastic contact that bolts to the column. The original contact metal broke so i had to add a new piece. So i have it rebuilt, but the horn would contact and go off when i would turn the wheel. kind of a funny site, but annoying. I have a grant steering wheel and that doesnt help either. I do not want to install a sperate button on the side of the column, i want to keep it where it should be. So my what have you guys done and do you have any pics of your mods to either make this a better way of connecting a horn or rebuilding the column setup.
