Hi I have a 74 cj5 that I'm in the process of fixing. I've owned and restored 6 cj's to date and haven't done one this old yet. My oldest was a 77 cj5.

I'm looking for a fresh air intake for the heating system along with the flexable air ducts. I've looked all over including several large jeep salavage yard throughout the country with no luck. The last big thing is the heat and it's starting to get cold up here any help? Thanks Dan

Where are you located? It's helpful to put your location in your sig or profile.

You may only find a used part for an intermediate - they are the least well supported of all re parts and such, since they only lasted 4 years. Fortunately a lot of them were made.

If all else fails, try J&W in Antelope CA (near Sacremento) or Scotty's in Fontana CA. I'm sure there are other Jeep & 4WD yards in other parts of the country, but those are the only ones I'm familiar with.

I feel your pain. I looked for those parts for a few years. I could not find them new. I got lucky and and traded seats for a box that Cam had. The intake hose has been a lost cause. The best suggestion I have gotten to date is dryer vent hose smashed to the shape you need. You might want to post an ad in the "wanted to buy" section and hope someone has one in decent shape. Good luck, you're going to need it!

I must have misunderstood what you were looking for.

    Is this it?

If so, I can sell you this one, although I don't know how much to ask, there is nothing to compare to. Sorry for the bad pic, had to use a phone camera. Contact me via e-mail and I'm sure we can work something out.

    You could also try kaiserwillys.com

It takes about 2 weeks to get their free catalog but they seem to cater more to your year Jeep.

That should be what he is looking for. Is the door flap on the end still functional? It is important that it open and close easily and seal up well when closed. How brittle is the plastic? A lot of them have holes and cracks. For a price reference, I traded a pair of $20 seats for the one I have.

It's in decent shape, but definately shows age. The flap opens and closes easily, however, the rubber seal is cracked and will probably need to be replaced. I imaging that the two plates holding the plastic will have to be drilled to seperate them to replace the rubber.

There are two places where some plastic broke. The front where the air hose connects, but the hose should cover it easily, and where one of the snap on screw retainers goes. Both are visible in the pic (I can also try to take a better one).

There are no holes where they shouldn't be. It's pretty solid. We'll have to move this thread to the "for sale" forum pretty quick.

That's a good point. I checked my catalog and their part number is 17906.01 - Fresh air box assembly with brackets for '72-'77 CJ5, going for $151.12.

It actually exists new? That is good to know. Is the air duct hose listed also? I still need one of those.

I just searched the KW site for both that part number and the part description, and no results on either.

The only one I see is for the defrost. They don't show a hose for the fresh air box, I guess the drier hose will have to do for now.

Thanks for all the info I tried a few different salavge yards but no luck.

Nwedgar that is the exact part I'm looking for. Check your messages in the fourm I couldn't get your e-mail if it didn't go through e-mail me at Danpshop51@hotmail.com thanks

I was going to try the air hose from a 76-86 and make an clouping and connect two of the hoses together. It might work if not a dryer hose will do.

I also went on the KW site and couldn't find anything out I do need the defroster ducts to I guess I'll order a book.

I want to get back in the seat but it's to cold and the windshield freezes on the inside.
    OH the joys of Jeeps.

The defroster duct part is 17907.01 (the plastic piece, similar to a hockey stick shape) going for $20.90. Says it's for a '55-'77 CJ.

The defroster hose is for '78 and up and is oval shape, it probably won't fit but the part for it is 17907.02 going for $22.70.

I'd suggest calling them to verify the part, the number on my catalog is 888.648.4923 (toll free). I got my catalog about a month or two ago, so it should be current.

The catalog has the **NEW** printed around it, I got it about a month or two ago so I hope it's still up to date. They send a separate price sheet that also has the number on it. Best bet is to call I guess.
