Anyone know where I can get the stock brackets from? I tried 4wd.com etc.. It seems with the under seat compartment it is hard to find the brackets that mount over it. I gotta guy who might have a pair but it looks as though the brackets mount to the door sill as well as the floor pan. I think that is for the earlier year cj-5. I have the '74 model.

You could try the following locations

kaiserwillys.com (It takes two weeks to get their free catalog)

collin brothers in Texas (used and new parts)

JW Jeep in California (used parts)

IIRC the street side of the seat brackets attached to the door sill in all models before 1976. The interior side goes to the top of the toolbox on the passenger side, and the drivers side bends down to the floor. There's a much earlier design for CJ-5s that predates the bucket seats, again IIRC. Somebody with an early-early should be able to get you a picture of that. The main diff, as I recall is that the passenger seat in an early-early has a cast bracket for each side that bolts to the top of the toolbox instead of to the tubular bracket that bolts to the door sill.

You should be able to use any of the tubular seat brackets that bolt to the door sill. There's also a frame that bolts to the bottom of the passenger seat, and an eye bolt that screws into the floor behind the passenger seat, that it latches to. You also need the sliders that go between the drivers seat and the bracket, if you want the seat to be adjustable.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure (without having it right here in front of me to check) that the brackets on my 74 bolt to the bottom of the door frame just as Tim described.

I have two of the three pieces available (driver and passenger side). That is if Tim's pics are what you need. The one piece I don't have is the mount from the seat on the passenger side to the floor (storage box / door opening). We'll I have it but the PO cut off the seat tabs for the removable tilt section. PM me if you or anyone else is interested. If not they're going on Ebay within a week.
