Here are some pics of my 1975 Column Mounted Tach. Aside from the face, it appears to be identical to the 1968 Rambler Dash mounted tach that i have. Unfortunately the pedestal for the Rambler tach is missing.

That baby is in beautiful shape ! Anybody know if this factory tach must be specifically designed for 6 or 8 cylinder or could it be used for either?

The mount is particularly unusual.....many of the tachs of this era simply depended on a hose clamp to secure to the steering column. If I can't find one of these originals w/this mount, I will probably look for either a Stewart Warner or Sun tach. Instead of a hose clamp, I'm trying to visualize something like a stainless muffler clamp arrangement..should be about the right diameter. If anyone has seen a clamp similar to the one in the picture, please let me know....Thanks for posting AMCJeeper....

I think there is a switch inside for 6 or 8. Not sure if my memory is right, might be another tach model I am thinking of.

These tachs were specific for either a 6 cylinder or an 8 cylinder. I have seen aftermarket tachs, and possibly even the reproduction late model Jeep tachs that can be switched depending on the engine.

I have been looking for one of these for quite some time, and it seems very few have the original column bracket still with them.
