new guy with ??? about my jeep

    Luckilly mine worked out when I found frame numbers. Otherwise it was literally going to court...

    ok guys that still dont help is this jeep likly a late sixties model or a 72 like the vins say and why is the f and 5 in my vin different how can i get some pics to you guys so you can help thanks

    Short fenders = pre '71

    Hmm, looks like an intermediate frame with early fenders and tub? Frame looks out of proportion to me in front of the grill. Or am I wrong on that guys?

    I think you are right Sparky. It looks like early sheet metal on an intermediate frame with some homemade suspension. Someone got creative. It's not uncommon to switch out body parts but usually they are of the same style.

    how hard is it to find a good older frame to match my body ? or is there something to do to this one to make it fit i like how it is shorter in the front

    Leave it be. IMO. I can't see any reason to change it unless there's interference or something. You'd have to move engine mounts, etc. to get the 304 on an earlier frame.

    Wow I never realized how much longer my intermediate was compared to an early until I saw those pics.

    well with the 304 in there there is no room for a fan or radiator they will hit each other i have to figure out if i want to leave it the way it is or put the longer front on it

    Electric fan?

    You can bolt on a new front clip from '72 and up and it'll work fine w/o replacing the tub.
