Someone on another board noticed the AMC20 in the rear of my 5. Should be a 44 in the rear? The 20 ever come in 75s?

as far as i know they only used 44's in the rear for 75. saw the pics on other board. does your windshield have the wiper motor on the inside or outside of frame? also does yours have latches or knobs to hold windshield up. could be someone before you swapped the 44 for the 20. thats why i bought my 75, but now i'm going to restore it and run it. mite be interested in your top too. have the same top but no hard doors.

    No, all '75s were 44s.

The 20 track width is right, but the spring mounts would have to be moved (narrowed) to replace the 44. Also, I believe Jeep went from 3.73/4.27 ratios to 3.54/4.10 in '76, so that also makes the swap less likely.

You may have a '76? Lots of changes from '75 to '76 - in addition to the windshield and rear axle, the floor pan becomes one piece, the trans was changed from the B-W T14/T15 to the Tremac T150, the "bus wheel" steering wheel was changed to a more car-like wheel, the dash changed, the frame changed so that it is boxed and the rails widen at the rear, the seat brackets change so that the passenger seat scoots forward instead of folding and tumbling, and lots of other, smaller changes.

Possible that a '76 built in '75 could be titled as a '75. Nothin' wrong with a '76 - just different.

If it's the same Jeep that you're selling, definitely '76 or later. The most telling part is the width of the frame at the rear crossmember.

    What's the VIN?
