Can I or has anyone done a 2.5 inch lift on an intermediate with a 258, T 18, Dana 20 combo????

I have learned from 53 flattie that a 3 inch will take major changes; ie new yoke on transfer case and CV shaft...... Will a 2.5 inch lift require the same changes or should I go for a Rancho 1" lift and hope I don't need anything else??? I desperately need new springs, the one's on High5 are really, really stiff and are beating the crap out of me on these wonderful Iowa streetsR)

    Thanks

[I moved this to the Intermediate Forum]

Just to be clear, and I should have said this before, the lift I bought was advertised as a 3.5" lift. Also, the shortest shackles I could find probably gave about 1" of lift. So, I probably ended up with about 4.5" of lift.

Do you currently have a lift on your Jeep? If not, take a jack and lift the back of the jeep by 2.5" (if you have that much droop in your current suspension without pulling the rear tires off the ground). Measure your DS angles from there... That should give you a rough idea.

We did a total of about 4" with no major changes. Longer brake lines and shims were all that we had to do.

But - the 360 is much shorter than the 258... (unless the trans is in the same spot for both?)

The lift was done with the original 232. The 360 came later.

    Hey thanks for the replys.

I think I will do a 4wd. 2.5 inch lift and call it good. There isn't any suspension lift on it now. I have the heavy duty option springs on it. I think there is nine in front, seven in rear. I barely get any suspension flex on the road. I know that it's not going to ride like a caddy, but this is ridiculous. I think the bulk of my X mas presents will be in the form of gift cert. so I should be able to purchase a lift after Christmas. I can't wait. I'm just hoping that I don't buy a lift and then need something else. And then find out I need something else. You all know, how Jeep stuff is. It never ends.

Thanks for the reply's and if anyone else has input, feel free
