Trying to find a lift for a '74 Cj-5. I want to go with 35's and am trying to stay away from a SOA. What are you guys doin? Strictly trail rig. Maybe I will drive on the road but more than likley only if I need to get to a trail within a 30 mile radius.

my '74... shackle reversal, moved spring hangers and run 4" YJ springs and 2" shackels, i am still SUA front and rear, fenders trimmed and TJ flares. my 36" IROK's still rub the flares up front cause the front axle is moved forward but i will add extended bum stops and tube fenders when i get home this spring.

i think you may be ok to clear 35"s with some 4" lift springs if you do some fender trimming. you could always add a 1" body lift too. maybe somebody else will chime in with better answers.... good luck.

In order to fit 35's on a trail rig you will have to trim the fenders to keep the tires out of them. This is mine with ~5 inches of lift and 35's. You can see the rear has been trimmed quite a bit to clear the tire. The front has been trimmed since this pic was taken as well.

Hey 2pwrlftrs4u - thanks for the picture post. I've got a '74 also, and need to trim the back fenderwells. Great to see what the TJ flares look like on a '74.

Oh, and by the way - I'm over in Gig Harbor. When you're back in town and want to go wheelin' just drop me a line.
