The 258 in my 75 is dieseling after I shut it off. It doesn't do it all of the time, only about every third time I turn the ignition off. Any suggestions on what it might be?:?

New to the Jeep scene, don't even have one together yet. But I'm familiar with Chevy 350's and such. In my experience, dieseling has always been caused by timing issues. I would check your timing and see if your off by a few degrees. Might be a simple fix. Pete

I was thinking the same. Timing advanced a touch?

    other possible areas
    bad gas (old, low octane)
    vacuum leak somewhere
intake/ex manifold bolts loose....int take gasket leaking
    too high idle speed
anti diesel solenoid/choke pull off inoperative
carbon build-up in combustion chamber (not as common a problem as it used to be with unleaded fuel now)

Timing is my guess as well. At least it's a place to start.
