i am looking for an original style softtop.
it seems that the new bestops
    have a narrower entry space.
i think the older style had more.
what do you guys think of this?

It looks like the top Herm sells. I think you'll like it.

If you still have your old Whitco metalwork, Bestop makes a CJ-5 Replace-A-Top that comes somewhat close to the original since it uses the original frames and bows.

Edit: I should mention that my Replace-A-top is a no rain no leak propositon. When it rains, the water comes in above the doors. The top doesn't overlap the top of the doors sufficiently.

I really wish someone would manufacture the old Whitco CJ-5 tops again. They were the best in my opinion.

That looks like a Tigertop. I've got one of those on my CJ.

As far as the rain leaks at the top of the door, I had those as well but I did do something about them.

I looked at where the water was leaking in as well as gaps around the handle and at the bottom. I went to the local auto store and bought the collapsible rubber (about 1") rubber weatherstriping with a peel off sticky backing. I measured it to fit. I put most of the weatherstriping on the door itself. For the top of the door, I mounted it directly onto the softtop just below where the horizontal bar runs through the top to the mounting bracket on the frame.

It worked out really well. The door meets the top much nicer and there was a big reduction in door flapping, wind noise and drafts as well.

I have an original Whitco soft top like the one pictured. It is black and has the Jeep logo on the plastic windows. I also have most if not all the framework. I would like to get $250.00 plus shipping for everything. Email me cwilson16@bellsouth.net
