I have a 79'-80' 231 v6 in my 3A, can't stand the carb anymore!!! And want to add Multiport fuel injection the the 231 motor. What cars came with this setup? (late 80's buick regal?) and how easy would this retro fit be? are there any books or manuels or articals on the web that walk though this retrofit??

I think most of those cars are transverse engine mounting. A friend who used to be on here and I discussed mounting one of those manifolds on in reverse so that it would work properly. But, I'm not even sure it would bolt up correctly as we never got around to obtaining a manifold. You might want to look into the projection stuff or maybe make your own multi-port setup using the mega-squirt stuff.

Thats all the info I have. Let us know if you figure it out.

I just bought a 231 (odd-fire) from a guy who said he had a fuel injection system on it from MegaSquirt, http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html.
Maybe there's something on their web site that can help you. He kept the system. Sold the engine to me without a carb.

    Couple guys here run Megasquirts.

We've discussed MPFI in the past here too and the differences (read reasons that it won't work) between the engines as I recall.

Megasquirt or ProJection is the best way to do it.

If you have a stock 79-80 carb-- a "dualjet" I can see why you are frustrated--- get a different carb that is simple and adapt it to your intake.

Have to disagree. The Dualjet is basically a Quadrajet with the secondary bores removed. I've run one on my '59 CJ-5 with evenfire 231 and turbo heads and has worked great since I put it together 16 or 17 years ago. It works great off-road as it has a center mounted float, and is simple to work on. If it were the '81 and up electronic version then I'd agree whole heartedly. Biggest down side to the Dualjet is it requires a matched intake manifold as it has a different bolt pattern than other carbs. Oh yes, it flows more cfm than many other two barrel carbs also. Mine works great at all but the steepest angles. It'll never beat fuel injection, but it works extremely well for a carb. I have a Pro jection on the shelf I could put on it but haven't needed it. Your fuel injection options seem to have been spelled out pretty well.

    1. Late 80s to early 90's conversion. Regal, Monte Carlo possibly Camaros or S-10s fuel injection.

    2. Megasquirt

    3. Holley Pro-Jection

I would take the time to check your block casting number to verify the motor's what you think it is as well.

The big problem is that the RWD Buick 3.8's never got FI. FWD throttle bores point the wrong way. I have some skunk works ideas but not sure if it will work.

    The debate continues.... ;)
