i had this thought in the shower today, seems like it would work. searched here (tried pirate too, but its down) but couldn't find anything close. in my fsj's dana 20, i have put in early bronco gears to gain a little extra low range. since the later dana 18 and dana 20 cases are the same, was anyone put the EB gears in a 18 or 20 case with 18 outputs? seems like it would work. maybe i'm missing something. i would like to keep the 18 outputs for overdrive availity. anyone?

I know we've discussed it around here. Nickmil knows which gear you need to make it work.

The overdrive depends on the teeth count (as i'm finding out the hard way). If the EB has the correct teeth count it should work. If you changed gears to go lower I doubt the tooth count is right for the overdrive. But to me this is all guess work I have no hands on on the subject.

The conversion using the early Bronco gears gives you the same exact low range as what is already found in a 29 tooth 18 transfer case. Take a 20 case and put the 18 guts in it and you don't need any Early Bronco gears. Only time you need the Bronco gear (there's actually only one you need) is if you are doing the low range conversion to a 20 case with 20 outputs. Nickmil.
