Whats the most common reason for these to stop working. They havent worked since I bought the Jeep and before I start trying to trouble shoot this I was just looking for some advice to get me started down the right road.

Take the motor apart and clean/ inspect/ lube....... I assume you've alreadychecked for power at the motor....

It takes alot for the motor to go kaput, so try your wiring/ground troubleshooting first. For fun, connect a solid ground wire from the (-) batt directly to the wiper moter (or cover), turn the switch on, and see what happens. Report your findings here! :)

I jumped the gun on mine and went out and bought a brand new motor. Took the old one out and put the new one in and voila it worked. 2 days later while driving home in the rain, it died. It wasn't the motor. It turned out to be a short in the wire and the switch needed to be replaced. Once I did that, it ran fine.

I kept the new motor because it works a whole lot faster than the old one I took out. lol

I'll respectfully dissagree here Alan.... With the age of the stock motors, and many years sitting, motors go out quite often. In fact, you'd be surprised how many wiper motors I replace on fairly "new" vehicles....

    Point taken.
Wiring will likely go first before the motor will...that's all the advice was intended to troubleshoot.

When I had to get my wipers working after I bought my Jeep, it turned out to be the switch, power was getting to the switch but not out of it to the wiper motor. Let us know what you find.

Currently my wipers are intermittently working......I need to fix them. Mine is a Bad ground. Check all your connections. You can test the motor with a battery charger or a battery. If it works then you might look at the switch.
