I'm working on a '79 CJ5 304....among other things, it needs a heater blower motor..... I ordered one from Quadratec, but they say it's mounted in the engine compartment. Well, it isn't really in the engine compartment, the motor housing sticks out thru the firewall, but the heater box on the inside has to be removed to replace the blower motor...... Did I order the right motor? Sorry, I'm not real savvy with the AMC CJ's....

You do know about the blower motor upgrade for the AMC heaters right?

You can put a Blazer motor in and upgrade the heat output. Don't know if the customer is interested but from what I've seen it bolts in.

Yep JP claims that. Also I think the YJ motor fits.

Patrick, you can get a 73 Blazer heater blower at most any local parts store for about $20. The only additional thing you will have to do for this upgrade is to enlarge the opening in the fire wall to 3 1/4" to accommodate the larger diameter motor.

I just found this for my 77 CJ5 and printed it. The source is www.cjoffroad.com, in the forums:

This pertains the the "blazer" motor. There are two different ones, one has a shorter shaft (which is what you want).

Here are the part numbers for the motor as listed in the forum:
    VENDOR - PART #
    ACI - 33892
    Everco - M892
    Murray - 208971
    4 Seasons - 35587
Siemens - PM102E (this is the Maker of the motor)
NAPA - 4551039 (I just priced it, around $20 as stated by someone else)
    Factory Air - 35587
    Kragen - 35587
    YJ replacement - PM102E

Fits, but with the long shaft:
    NAPA - 4551076
    Shucks - 33892

I started searching after reading about the blower replacement in www.manoian.net/jeep This site helped me with hardware for my CJ5 hardtop, too (and I paypal'd him as a Thanks).

    Hope this helps.
