I've been looking through catalogs and websites for a 3.73 trac loc carrier and they only list 1970 and up flanged. Will this carrier work on a 67 d44? Does anyone have a used one they would be interested in selling? Also is there any other way of getting the shafts out of the housing without a slide hammer? Thanks in advance.

Not sure about axle shaft diameter, but the spline count would be different between the tapered and flanged. The bearing race is a snug fit so unless the housing's worn you need the slide hammer effect.

i would get a power lock if i were you. much stronger then the track lock and they are pretty easy to find in the 19 spline 3 series (3.73 gears).

search around the forum for more info as they have been discussed many times. r&p is a good source for rebuilt units if you can't find one.

trac lok never made for tapered 19 spline
made only for flanged 30 spline
this is why you can't find it for your application

You say they were not made for the tapered 19. But I have a Trac Loc in my 67 D44 now with tapered axles. :?

here are some factory manual exploded views
std/open diff- 1 piece solid case
power lok- 2 piece bolt together case
trac lok- 1 piece solid case
power lok used with tapered and flanged axles, 19 and 30 spline
trac lok used with flanged axles, 30 spline only

You guys are right. It's a Powerloc. My bad. To say I'm confused is an understatement. So now what does that mean, Can I bolt 3.73's to this powerloc or does the split still apply? Running 4.88's now. Thanks again.

yep, you need a series 3 power lock, 19 spline.
there is one for sale in the classifieds, i posted a link in your wtb thread.

    3.73 is basically the cutoff.

The split is 3.73 and down and 3.92 and up.
